Passwordless Login and Account Security
Q: What is passwordless login?
A: Passwordless login is a more secure and convenient way to access your EnergyTrak account. Instead of using a traditional password, you will enter your email address and receive a secure, one-time sign in link to the email address attached to your account. Clicking the link will instantly log you into the EnergyTrak App or webpage.
Q: Why are we making the change to passwordless login?
A: We are transitioning to passwordless login to enhance your security and simplify your experience. This method eliminates risks associated with passwords, such as phishing, keyloggers, and data breaches.
Q: What will happen to my old password?
A: Your old password will be securely retired and will no longer be valid for logging in. The new passwordless login flow will be your permanent method of access.
Q: Will I still have two-factor authentication (2FA)?
A: No, passwordless login via email is single-factor authentication. However, because it requires access to your email account (which is often secured by its own 2FA), it still offers strong protection.
Q: What if I don't get the email with the login link?
A: If you do not see the email in your inbox within a few minutes, please check your spam or junk folder. If you still cannot find it, you can return to the login screen and click the "Resend Link" option.
Q: Can I still use my third-party login (e.g., Google or Apple)?
A: Yes. You will still have the option to log in using your Google or Apple account. However, please ensure the email address associated with your Google or Apple login is the exact same as the email address your EnergyTrak welcome email was sent to. If not, please manually enter your welcome email address and click the "Continue with Email" button to avoid creating a duplicate account.
Q: Why am I not seeing my sites in the EnergyTrak app after logging in?
A: This is usually due to one of the following:
- Incorrect Email or Duplicate Account: You may be logged in with an email address that is NOT associated with your site data, or you may have accidentally signed into a duplicate account instead of the one that received your welcome email.
- Site Filters: Active filters on your site list may be hiding your sites.
To begin troubleshooting, we recommend you check your profile within the EnergyTrak app to confirm you are logged in with the correct email address. Then, review your site list for any active filters.

Q: What if I encounter an "Endless Login Loop"?
A: If you experience an "Endless Login Loop" and cannot log in, try the following:
- Close any other EnergyTrak tabs you have open.
- Go to your browser's settings and delete the cookies for EnergyTrak.
- Reopen energytrak.io and try signing in again.
Q: How long does a login session last?
A: Once you are logged in, you will stay logged in. Our system does not force-log users out. You will only be required to sign in again if you manually log out or clear your app/browser data.
Q: What if I use EnergyTrak on multiple devices?
A: Passwordless login is designed to work seamlessly across all your devices. You will follow the same process on each device you use to access your account: enter your email, click the link, and you're in.
Q: Is my data secure in the EnergyTrak app?
A: Yes. Your data is protected by industry-standard security measures, including secure login and authentication processes. We are committed to keeping your information private and secure through ongoing testing for vulnerabilities.
